The STAMIGOLD Company Limited (“SBM”) is located at the edge of Biharamulo Forest Reserve, in Kaniha Ward, Biharamulo District, Kagera Region. Coordinates: 03°20′S 031°53′E. The mine site can be accessed by either from the Kahama–Rusumo Highway, or from the Geita–Biharamulo Highway via Bwanga to Runzewe road. The mine is an Open Pit mining operation and achieved commercial production since 2014.
Open Pit Operations - Mining approach is contractor-based whereby the contractor supplies and operate the equipment and the client provides technical guidance and supervision which includes mine design, mine planning, mine survey and geology inputs.
Processing - The planned processing methodology is metallurgically simple and conventional involving proven crushing and milling techniques with carbon-in-leach gold extraction. The Crushing circuit is designed to facilitate future expansion.
Power – STAMIGOLD derives most of its power requirements from the National Grid Electricity Supply (TANESCO) and has three emergency standby power generation units.
Water – STAMIGOLD receives its water requirements from various sources namely, Muhama River, harvested rainwater, and TSF water recycling.
